Cajun Craze Enjoy the Moment

Image
Cajun Craze isn’t a colour I generally reach for, and I’m not entirely sure why.  I really do enjoy its rich tone and how it pairs nicely with Very Vanilla and Early Espresso.  Cajun Craze was used for my cardbase, the ink for stamping and sponging as well.  The dsp used is from In The Wild from the Stampin Up Annual Catalogue.  Stamp sets used are Special Moments, Enjoy the Moment and the insert has a sentiment from Very Versailles.  The stitched rectangles for the die cuts on the front of the card are from the Stitched So Sweetly dies.  Embellishments include Wonderful Gems and Early Espresso Faux Suede Ribbon.  Other tools used were paper trimmer, big shot and blending brushes.  Stampin Seal and mini dimensionals were the adhesives used.   I participated in the sketch challenge from Inspire Inspire.Create.Challenges .Create.Challenges #109.  Hope you take a look at the other cards using the same sketch.   Thanks for dropping by,  Mary Louise east Coast Stamping with a Mary Louise

Sweet Talk dsp from Stampin UP

Image
I recently held a "games of chance" with some great stamping friends where we made this card as a make and take project.  The first one I made using retired dsp and then I recreated using the new Sweet Talk dsp from Stampin UP in the mini catalogue (january-june 2022) using the same layout.  This is so versatile, swap out the dsp and colours for sympathy or any birthday, even Christmas.  Once all the pieces were cut, it went together so fast so an excellent choice for mass producing cards or simply a paper destash. Can't wait to make more of these now.....what do you think? Hope these bring you some inspiration to get your crafty on.  Thanks for dropping by, Mary Louise East Coast Stamping with Mary Louise

Amazing Silhouettes sketch challenge

Image
Happy Weekend! I hope the weather isn’t too crazy where you are, cold and sunny here in beautiful Nova Scotia.  This weeks project was created with the help of a special little crafter, my grandson.  Keegan absolutely loves to help me make cards and does a pretty good job at it.  Our interpretation of the sketch we were provided was pretty close to exact for a change.   We used Pale Papaya cardstock for the cardbase, the two pieces of dsp were from the Hand Penned dsp pack.  The beautiful butterfly from the Amazing Silhouettes is stamped with Misty Moonlight using the stamparatus to ensure a clear stamped image.  Pale Papaya open weave ribbon, tied in a neat knot and a few Wonderful Gems to finish off the project.  The sentiment is from the new Sale a Bration catalogue, Special Moments.   Thanks for dropping by Mary Louise and Keegan

Party Animal dsp

Good afternoon and welcome to #throwbackthursday here at East Coast Stamping with Mary Louise.  I really enjoy the opportunity to dig into my retired stash to create fun projects, getting to revisit old favourites that I have forgotten about.  I participate in a monthly mystery challenge where we are supplied with a few pieces of “stuff” and we crate a card with them.  This month was my turn to supply, so I dug into the Retired Party Animal dsp from many years ago.  This pack had lots of bright, colourful patterns mostly themed for birthdays or celebrations-lots of choices for sketches or layouts!   I teamed mine up with a cool fun fold also.  Here is my fun card.  Do you have this dsp or another pack that is equally as fun?  Hope this inspires you to delve into your stash.   Thanks for stopping by,  Mary Louise

Stampin Up Pansy Petal DSP

Image
Another week, another snow storm! At least this time we didn’t lose our power though.  I wasn’t able to make it in to work, there was so much snow in our yard and the roads hadn’t been completely cleared.  There’s always lots to do though.  Todays card is another #sketchintuesday card where my friend, Barb sends me a random sketch she finds off Pinterest and awaits my interpretation. This week I went for a less is more approach for the many elements or layers for this sketch.   I used the Pansy Petals dsp, Soft Succulent cardstock for the cardbase and the layers.  Enjoy the moment was stamped, cut down and then layered to accent the pretty colours in the dsp.  I finished the card off with the Classic Matte Dots embellishments.  This could be used for male or female because of the colours and designs of the paper.  I don’t tend to reach for the greens when making cards except for Christmas so was pleasantly surprised with this pairing.  Take a look and see.   Thanks for stopping by,  M

What I love from Stampin Up

Image
I participate in a monthly card swap with a few gals from across the country, where each month has some sort of theme.  The themes could be colours, shapes, specific occasion, etc.  For this month I wanted to make the participants think, or not so I chose: something old, something new, something borrowed or something blue.  You would automatically assume wedding, right?  But I didn’t.  I was excited for the opportunity to use one of my older stamp sets and chose blue as my main focal colour after searching through Pinterest.  This isn’t my own idea, but I did change up a few elements using products I had on hand.  The “what I love” set was an old sale a bration from 2015 I believe, and I used Marina Mist, Night of Navy, Balmy Blue and Memento inks for stamping.  The sentiments are all from Many Messages flanked by Pear Pizzaz sprigs using the Sprig Punch.  The embellishments and twine are older as well….. Love bringing life back into oldies but goodies.

Simply Elegant from Stampin Up

Image
Another week and another #sketchintuesday post to share.  My sketches are always sent to me from a friend and fellow demonstrator at Making cards at 1 Ink Hill , from a random Pinterest search.  I think she looks for the more difficult ideas on purpose. This week I chose a more solemn card theme, it seems I use more this time of year and needed to build up a stash.  The dsp I selected is anything but drab, in fact it is very elegant but not in a showy way.  The bold designs are being paired with Basic Gray and Very Vanilla to complete the whole package.  Simply Elegant dsp, Elegant Tag Punch, Peaceful Moments stamp set, Basic Border Dies, Basic Gray & Very Vanilla cardstock,  simple black bow from the Bakers Twine Essentials Pack are all from the annual catalogue.  The embellishments I used are from the new January to June mini, Classic Matte Dots.  While it is sad to have to create sympathy cards, it is still fun to adhere cardstock, dsp and punched shapes together to build somet

In the moment from Stampin Up

Good day everyone,  It’s a new year filled with hope and positivity and I intend to focus on that and not things I cannot change. Thankfully, my hobby allows me to lose myself in the now to create and spread that creativity to those around me.  Even when we don’t always get to see each other, swaps and Facebook chats certainly make my days brighter.   The theme of todays card is about doing what makes you happy, maybe even a bit of self care or self indulgence if you will.  We are always busy looking after everyone else, whether it’s a spouse, children, parents, fur babies that we don’t spoil ourselves like we should.  So take some time to reflect, stare off into the stars and think happy thoughts or even no thoughts, and do something for you.   The new stamp set, “In the Moment”, has images and sentiments that are perfect for that! The image I chose for todays card feels peaceful to me, I have paired that with some rich and dark tones.  Take a look and see my sketch Materials used: C
