Snowflake mask from Adorning Designs Decorative Masks

Image
Where does the time go?  I can’t believe it’s already Sunday, it was just Tuesday.  So #sketchintuesday this week was so much fun.  I veered away from my traditional use of dsp and made a very pretty background piece using one of the Adorning Designs Decorative Masks found in the holiday mini.  Night of Navy matte on a Basic White cardbase helped to make this card bold and full of life.  The snowflake patterned mask was used with the sponge Brayer and White ink.  How simple but what a stunning card.  I finished the card off with the Tailored Tag punch using Night of Navy cardstock and stamped in white again, some Fine Art ribbon and a few gold metallic pearls.  I used sentiments from Holly Jolly Wishes ( on the inside) and Banner Year.  Thanks Barb for yet another fun sketch.  Thanks for stopping by.

Sweet symmetry and Biggest Wish from Stampin Up

Image
I totally cased this card from Pinterest, it was the perfect project for my club gals to show both the pretty dsp  Sweet Symmetry and the stamp set, Biggest Wish.   We used the stamparatus to stamp the sentiments perfectly,  a tool that I rarely think to use even though I really should.  Just Jade and Bumblebee were the main players for this card, some white Bakers Twine and finished off with some embellishments.  We completed this card in no time which left lots of time for chatter and fun.

Gather Together #throwbackthursday

Image
I almost forgot about my #throwbackthursday card, good thing I stayed up a bit late and remembered.  This is an idea I found on Pinterest that I used for a recent swap that was die cuts or punch themed.  I thought it was perfect for this time of year with all the pretty colours.  I used the now retired, Gather Together stamp and dies bundle with the birch embossing folder.  Pumpkin Pie, and Cajun Craze really added to the beauty of it.  While I love using all of our current products, it is fun to dig into the archives and play with oldies but goodies.  Come back next Thursday to see what I have made.

Pansy Petals sketch challenge

Image
It always amazes me how a sketch can be interpreted.  My recent sketch from a random internet search from Barb over at Making Cards @ 1 Ink Hill proved to be a bit of a challenge but one I thoroughly enjoyed.  Flowers aren’t something I use often but I do love these Pretty Pansies from the Pansy Petals dsp.  I especially love the colour palette of this dsp, it has my favourite-Blackberry Bliss which I paired up with Fresh Freesia matte.  I used the 3D bark embossing folder to add a bit of texture to the card front.  The three flowers and leaves are fussy cut and adhered to the front, and a small flower  fussy cut and placed on the inside.  The sentiment is stamped with memento on a scrap of Blackberry Bliss and punched using the Tailored Tag punch.  This was so much fun to make.

Penguin Place Colour Challenge

This week for my regular #sketchintuesday project, I combined the sketch (random internet search) with a colour combination challenge.  The colours were a bit all over the place so not something I would normally do but it turned out pretty good in the end.  The colour challenge was for Inspire.Create.Challenge ,#101 I have participated in their challenges a few times.  Always nice to stretch your comfort level and try something new. Cute Halloween sketch challenge

Image
Another recent stamping challenge brought me this spooky layout, just in time for Halloween.  I love the black and white look to it with just a hint of pink from the kitty.  If you are looking for a super simple layout to make a quick card, here it is.  I layered some of the Cute Halloween dsp along with Basic Black matte on Basic White cardbase.  Banner Year stamp Set and Pick a Banner punch were used for the sentiment and Wonderful Gems finished off the card.   The measurements for the dsp pieces are: 1 1/4” square-2 pieces are needed, I used one dsp and 1 Basic White and then added an image from the dsp on it and 2 pieces @1 1/4”x 2 3/4”. Scraps of white and black were used for the sentiment.   I would love to see your version of this card, please post below.  My friend from Making Cards at 1Ink Hill shared her creation.  Check it out here: making cards @1ink hill

#throwbackthursday #retrofreshdsp

Image
Today’s project is using some older Stampin’ Up! products that I pulled out of my closet.  I found this dsp to be pretty bold and colourful, likely why I bought it in the first place.  And since I am down to little bits and pieces, this layout was perfect.  I may have a few more strips to make a couple more, nothing feels more satisfying than finishing off a pack of dsp because there will always be another pack to replace it.  I used the Retro Fresh dsp, cut 3/4” wide and adhered onto Very Vanilla card front.  Then I stamped the birthday bear from Party Panda along with the sentiment using Memento and coloured the dots on his party hat using So Saffron marker.  Basic Black matte on a Coastal Cabana cardbase complete the layers and then I found those cute little stars (not sure what pack of embellishments they were from) and thought they fit perfectly.  Can’t wait till next week to try another project using some relics from the past.  Thanks for dropping by, Mary Louise

True Love Strips Card

Image
I recently participated in an online games night where we made a make and take card.  The pieces were mailed to all of the participants before hand and then we all put them together over google meet.  The dsp is all black and white  (True Love dsp) but it is very colourable and so I coloured! While the sample was very pretty in just black and white, I wanted to add some colour and then just couldn’t stop.   The pieces of dsp are 4”x 1 1/4” and you need 4 of those.  I fussy cut a large floral image for my focal point, and coloured it as well.  We used a basic black cardbase, 5 1/2” x 8 1/2” scored in half.  I coloured my pieces using the Night of Navy, Old Olive and Petal Pink Stampin Blends.  My sentiment is from an older Paper Pumpkin kit, and was stamped onto Basic White cardstock punched using the Elegant Tag punch.  A small, snippet of ribbon helped to finish off the card.  Stampin Seal was used for everything except the flower, which is popped up using dimensionals.

Scrappy Sketchin Tuesday

Image
Another version of #sketchintuesday and another random internet sketch from Barb  from Making Cards at 1 ink hill.     I did stray a bit from this sketch but am quite happy with the results.   Cardstock: cherry cobbler Basic White  Dsp: Tidings of Christmas  Snow Wonder  (sentiment for inside) Stamp set: Banner Year (sentiment for card front)  Punch: Banners Pick a Punch  Embellishments : Metallic Pearls  ink : Memento  Paper Trimmer Dimensionals and adhesive of choice The card is pretty straight forward to put together.  I did stamp a sentiment on the inside and added a flag for the top, right hand side.  A small strip of dsp along the bottom of the insert finishes off the card nicely.  This is a cute but simple card to mass produce and a great opportunity to use up small scraps of your dsp or even embossed cardstock.  Sometimes less is more.
