Tara's Mystery Pieces Challenge

Image
It's another hot and muggy day here in the beautiful Annapolis Valley, Nova Scotia.  I am sitting in my craft room with windows open and the fan on high drinking lots of water to try to keep cool.  I am not a fan of warm weather, I usually hibernate for the summer and come out around September.  The heat and humidity wreck havoc on my head causing migraines.  Today I am sharing another mystery pieces challenge, this time from my upline, Tara.  Her pieces included the die cuts from the Smooth Sailing Dies.  It was perfect, as I don't actually have this set but I do have Sailing Home so it was a great compliment to the pieces.  I needed something to act as a background for the seaweed so I pulled in some DSP from the Fine Art pack.  It was a bit of a surprise to find the brushed look side of the otherwise floral paper would work with an ocean themed card.  I love this fancy fold too, for using small pieces of DSP, and it helps to tell the story of the card in smaller sections.

Marnie's Mystery Challenge

Image
Each month, my teammates and I participate in a team swap with a different theme each month.  This month it was a mystery challenge so everyone sent piece(s) to each other and wait to see how everyone interprets them.  We all have very different tastes and styles. This month,  I was given a piece of Crumb Cake cardstock that had been embosssed with the Bark 3D folder as my mystery challenge piece.  I don't currently have that folder but I see that changing in the very near future.  I immediately reached for the Sand and Sea DSP and thought the smaller elements from the Friends are like Seashells bundle would be a perfect fit.  If you would like to order any of the items I used to create this card, leave a comment in the section below.  If you would like to be a part of my team so you too, can participate in these fun swaps, please comment below. # HSSCC366 colour challenge

Image
I recently participated in a colour challenge with hand stamped sentiments blog,  using Just Jade, Bumblebee and Calypso Coral.  My stamp set and punch was flowers of friendship and also the border dies.  I had been patiently waiting to use that bundle since I received it during preorder and was quite pleased with the results.   Want to see others using the colour challenge, take a peek using the link here:  http://handstampedsentiments.blogspot.com/?m=1

Valeries mystery pieces

Image
Today I am featuring the card I made using team mate Valerie’s pieces.  She die cut several elements from the Dandy Wishes die set so I paired them with a few blocks of the coordinating dsp before it retires.  This was all topped on a Mossy Meadow cardbase.  I have to say, I have had this set for quite some time, and have never used all that I have with this card.  Now I will need to reach for that one more often.

#sketchintuesday

Every Tuesday I create a card from a random sketch given to me by my fellow demo Barb Stortz from Making cards at 1 ink hill.  I use the sketch as a basic idea and go from there.  This week I focused on using the Snail Mail designer series paper, letting the cute designs steal the show.  Yes, I fussy cut out the snails and then used one of my “Many Messages” die cut sentiments to top it off.  We have lots of fun chatting and creating, drop by next week to my Facebook page: EastCoastStamping with Mary Louise.  Would love your company!  Supply List: Cardstock: Bermuda Bay cut at 4 ¼” x 8 ½” scored at 5 ½”; strip of Bermuda Bay cut” Basic White cut at 4”x5 ¼” for insert, scrap for sentiment Snail Mail dsp-cut at 4”x5 ¼”; 3 scraps-1@1/4”x3 3/4”, 1@ ¼”x2 ½”, 1@ ½” x 4” for insert; 4 images either die cut or fussy cut for the front and one for insert. Jennifer’s Mystery Pieces

Hi folks,  Another bright and beautiful day here in the Annapolis Valley.  The sun is shining, a light breeze blowing and I can hear the birds chirping, life is good!  My down line organizes a monthly swap with several of my sidelines, up line, etc with different themes each month.  All supplies must be current and Stampin Up of course, and then we can all share the projects on our various social media platforms.   The past few months, we have been enjoying “mystery challenges” where each recipient receives and creates a project with the pieces we’ve been sent.  Sometimes it is a word that has been die cut and perhaps a piece of ribbon or a small piece of dsp and some bling.  It is a lot of fun because we are so very diverse and the projects vary so much.   Today, I am featuring Jennifer Curran’s piece which is a die cut from the flowering vine die in Fresh Freesia.  To be honest, I had to go looking through the catalogues to find this die as I didn’t realize it existed.  With a Black

Four Fold Fun Card

This four fold fun card was....fun to make.  Once you put together the card base, which is one seam, it’s simple layering and stamping.  You will see in my video, I created it twice using different dsp each time.  Here are the measurements and directions for this project.  Once again, I was not the creator of this fold but I enjoyed making it.  Basic black cardstock: 51/2” x 11” scored at 1/4”, 33/4” & 71/4” Turn cardstock to 51/2” side, score 5/8” from the edge to the 71/4” score line.  Then trim this.  Fold in on the 5/8” score line, this is where you will attach the small piece of black cardstock.  Basic black cardstock: 2” x 41/4” Dsp (2) 13/4” x 4” Dsp (2) 31/4” x 45/8” Basic white 31/2” x 51/4”

April 2021 Oh So Cool Paper Pumpkin projects

When I first seen the preview for this paper pumpkin, I knew I had to have it.  The fun colours, cute designs and coordinating products had me sold!  When I put together a kit, I like to completely bash the kit ingredients so this one took me a bit because it went on forever.  You will notice the card with the glitter and kiwi popsicle...that glitter is the garbage parts surrounding the little glitter banners.  I enjoyed this kit so much, I hope you did too.
