Very Versailles from Stampin’ Up!

Image
Hey everyone, it is a beautiful weekend here in Aylesford, Nova Scotia and I have had the weekend off to enjoy it.  One day I am wearing a hoodie and sandals and the next day is hoodie and a toque.  Oh well, the sun is shining so I  will take it.   I can’t believe the amount of birds we still have coming around, so many different varieties too.  I especially love the cardinals with their bright colours and beautiful song.   My tulips are almost in bloom as are my daffodils.  It won’t be long now to enjoy all of springs pops of colour.  My project for this weeks sketch challenge reminds me of spring with the strong burst of colours.   My sketch had a few elements to it, but I was happy to oblige.  Thanks to my friend Barb for sending me another great random sketch.  Take a look at what I did,  J I used a Soft Succulent cardbase and added a layer of New Horizon dsp with a Pale Papaya ribbon knot tied off to the side.  Using the largest of the scallop rectangle die from the Stitch So Swe

Fun fold for #tbt using Stampin Up products

Hey everyone, Who doesn’t love a fun fold card idea?  I loved this one as it was quick to prep, put together and it looks great.  Even better that I could use up some of my dsp pieces too, but you could totally make your own dsp using stamps.  I can’t take credit for the design though, I watched a Connie Stewart video and thought…I need to do that! Take a look, what do you think? If you want to see how I put it together, pop on over to my Facebook page: EastCoastStampingwithmarylouise.  Thanks for stopping by  Mary Louise

Bloom Where You Grow sketch challenge

Image
I hope everyone had or is having a great weekend spending time with family or friends and doing something special.  Our daughter from New Brunswick came home, we haven’t seen her since Christmas so was a wonderful visit, and our local daughter and family were able to drop by too. Because of everyone’s work and social commitments, we had our family gathering on Good Friday.  Kids of all ages enjoyed our Easter Egg hunt and then a meal with all of their favourite foods.   This weeks sketch had me a bit baffled, I had to roll around a few ideas before something stuck.  For the center image, I could see a plant as the circle and square from the sketch so I immediately pulled out my Bloom Where You Grow dsp and started fussy cutting.  It impressed me so much, that most of the rest of the card is using that same pack of dsp.  Let’s take a look…. I used a Cinnamon Cider cardbase, cut at 51/2 x 81/2 scored @ 4 1/4.  The matte is Evening Evergreen, cut at 4 x 5 1/4.  Next came a sheet of the ds

Mixed Drinks Slider Card

Todays #tbt post was so much fun to create and I can’t wait for the perfect opportunity to give it away.  I haven’t used this stamp set in years but knew it was the perfect one for this type of card.  I used this technique from you tube and used my own idea to make my card,   https://youtu.be/BBe0sZn3w60    The supplies I used were minimal, as is the technique but the results are anything but.  I have made a few different designs changing the orientation and each were equally fun.   Materials Cardstock-Daffodil Delight and Basic White Stamp sets-Mixed Drinks, Itty Bitty Birthdays and Timeless Textures Ink Pads-Memento and Daffodil Delight Tools-Paper Trimmer, 1” circle hole punch Basic Black Bakers Twine Isn’t this just so much fun!  I will be using this technique again in the near future

Sketch challenge with Garden Wishes

Image
Oh boy!  Another #sketchintuesday post and this one was really quick to put together.  Thanks again to @makingcardsat1inkhill for this sketch.  I did try to focus on products soon to be retiring from the annual catalogue, sort of their last hoorah.  You just never know when you purchase items from catalogues if they will be  rolled over into the following years catalogue so you have to make the most of them.   Garden Wishes bundle, Many Messages bundle and Bloom Where You are Planted are all retiring, let’s take a look at how I used them for this sketch.   I used cinnamon Cider for the cardbase, a normal A2 sized card.  The layer of dsp on top is from the Bloom Where You Are pack, I thought the colours matched perfectly.  Then I stamped the dandelion and leaves image onto Basic White and cut using the Dandy Wishes dies.  See that cute bumblebee?  I stamped and die cut him too.  The sentiment was stamped and die cut using the Many Messages bundle- I stamp and cut a bunch and keep in th

Moonlight dsp for #tbt

Happy Thursday folks,  I am happy to report that I do indeed have a throwback project for you!   The dsp is retired, the stamp and punch are retired, the ribbon is retired and the cardstock had even retired but then it came back.  Think you need to see what it is all about?   I had so much fun making this card, using products I haven’t thought about in forever! What do you do with your retired stash?  Do you push them back in your storage and forget about them?  Are there some that are your go to? Do you flip out your current with retired?  Would love to hear how you choose how to sort your crafting supplies.   I did follow a sketch as well, just to give me some guidance.  A random search from Pinterest provided this for me:  Here is a list of products used, but you can certainly substitute with any colour scheme: Cardbase-Blackberry Bliss Basic White Dsp-Moonlight Stamp Set-Time for Tags Ribbon-Blackberry Bliss Stitched Satin Ribbon. Seaside Seashells #sketchintuesday

Image
Another week, I know.  Old story.  But todays story is from under the sea…that’s right! I used Seaside Seashells bundle…say that 5 times fast.  I haven’t used this bundle in forever, felt it was time for it to re surface.  So very thankful that all components used to make this card are carrying over with the new catalogue.  Yay!  Another year to enjoy all of its beauty and versatility.  Thanks to Barb from Making Cards @1ink Hill for providing me with a random internet search for a sketch for me.  She takes great pleasure in selecting images that have multiple components.  That’s okay, we got this!  I look forward to each Tuesday evening so I can craft with you, love all of the interaction from each of you as well.  Okay, enough babbling, here is the sketch and the finished product:  I used a sponge dauber with Coastal Cabana ink and added some light colour to the raised images on the embossed piece of Basic White.  This is the layer added to the front of the Bermuda Bay cardbase.  Th

Sweet Ice Cream Fancy Fold

Hey crafters,  This is a card we made at our recent card club party featuring one of my favourite stamp sets that is retiring.  I am sad to see this one go as it was a great anyone stamp set it’s lots of fun intended.  Really…who doesn’t love ice cream?   I needed an equally fun fold card to show off the ice cream so I went with this one.  Not my idea of course, but switched up the products used for my own touch.   Gotta love Pinterest for inspiration.  This is a pretty straight forward card to create.  Punch your three scoops of ice cream from your different coloured cardstock.  Punch the cone from Cinnamon Cider, then stamp the “waffle lines” onto the punched cone. Using Pool Party ink and the bubbles stamp from Sweet Ice Cream, create your background on Basic White for the front of the card.  I also created a bubble effect on the other piece of Basic White used for the back of the card.  Both sentiments are stamped using Memento.  Now you can start putting the layers together.  To
