New Horizons DSP sketch challenge

Image
Welcome to another project post from my #sketchintuesday lives I do each Tuesday on my Facebook page East Coast Stamping with Mary Louise.  My sketch this week was a little more complex than last weeks, but that’s ok, I love a good challenge.  I might have eliminated an extra layer but am quite happy with the results.  I even kicked in some old school Girl Guide knot tying for one of the elements.  I have been involved in guiding for over 25 years both as a youth participant and adult.  Started when my girls were involved and continued once they went through.  Have taught many girls how to tie knots so when I envisioned this card, I knew exactly what I needed.  Let’s take a đź‘€  I stamped the bird image directly onto the dsp using Memento ink, added sentiment to my die cut piece of Basic White and also the lighthouse image onto scrap piece of Basic White.  After fussing cutting the lighthouse, I coloured in using my blends.  Once I put the card together, I used some Wink of Stella and

You're a Peach Sketch Challenge

Hey folks, Another week and another #sketchintuesday post.  Sadly, I haven't been in my craft room nearly enough lately.  My work and my volunteer activities have been keeping me very busy, which is great but I still need my play time.  My craft room is fairly large and I have it filled...but with a lot of furniture so I have been slowly cleaning stuff out.   It seems the bigger the room, the more stuff gets jammed into it.  Perhaps even a few, ahem, unfinished projects are surfacing as well.  Oh my!   So my sketch this week was fairly easy, but I really wanted to make it eye catching.  Thanks to my stamping pal, Barb, I was able to do that.  I find when I start to gather my supplies for my project, I start with the main focal image and build around it which is usually the dsp or the stamped image. This project enabled me to utilize some of my pretty patterned dsp....I chose You're A Peach!  Can you believe, it's the first time I have used this pack and I've had it sin

#throwbackthursday #somethingborrowed dsp from Stampin’Up!

My #thursdaythrowback for this week.  Our theme for this month was gatefold and I was sure it was a new fold for me but once I started putting it together I realized I had completed one but a different orientation a couple of years ago.   The one thing I like best about #throwbackthursday is the opportunity to use something retired in my ever growing stash.  Something Borrowed dsp was featured in 2015, with Sahara Sand, Petal Pink and Whisper White as it’s coordinating colours.  I used flowers from the Friendship of Flowers bundle to add some colour.  Early Espresso was used with the Painted labels dies layered with die cut from Stitched so Sweetly dies.  The sentiment is from the Peaceful Moments stamp set.  If you are looking for the instructions on how I made this card, I used a video from You Tube after searching Gate Folds.  There are several variations and I searched for the A2 size version.   Thanks for stopping by,  Mary Louise

Throwback Thursday wonderful romance birthday card

Image
My sisters birthday is tomorrow so I quickly whipped up this card for my #throwbackthursday post.  She is working tonight so I know she won’t see this until later tomorrow, hopefully in person and not here, hehe.   So I dug into my retired stash, pulled out the Wonderful Romance stamp and die set, Floral Romance velum, (you might have to enlarge the photo to see how pretty it is ) Fresh Fig cardstock.  Sentiments are also oldies but goodies….Family Party and Stitched all Around.  Phew.  Oh, and the bakers twine too but I really can’t remember what that was called, ooops!  I did add a few embellishments from the adhesive backed hexagons pack that are current.  I really like the embossed edging effect from one of the dies in this set.  It certainly adds a really nice touch.   Thanks for stopping by,  Mary Louise

Biggest Wish Masculin Card

Hi folks,  Here we are, another beautiful, sunny day in Aylesford, Nova Scotia.  Spring is just around the corner, I think a lot of people are looking forward to a change of season.   This particular sketch was very interesting in design and really had me thinking.  I think my friend Barb, from Making Card at 1 Ink Hill likes to find detailed sketches for me to try and decipher.  It is lots of fun to interpret each sketch but still be able to identify the original design.   Some people really struggle with masculine cards but this could be easily used as one.   For the card base and bottom square layers I used Basic Black.  The perfect piece of designer series paper was found in the Abstract Beauty dsp pack and used as the next layer.  Gray Granite cardstock embossed using the Hive 3D folder (first time using it!) added an extra layer and element to this card.  It was also used for the layer stamped with the Happy Birthday sentiment from Biggest Wish.  Once it was stamped, I cut the s
