Stampin’ Up! Design a Daydream Birthday Card

Image
Loving this #throwbackthursday card I made using a few retired items.   Sometimes, I just feel like kicking it old school and revisit some old favourites.  The colours in this dsp combined with the cardstock are just so calming and blend so well.  The design a daydream paper pack was HUGE! so ai might just have a piece or two left to use.   I did a bit of paper sharing with this card also as the Coastal Cabana square as well as the piece behind the sentiment are cut from the center of the Coastal Cabana mat which is adhered to the Pool Party cardbase.  Then the layer of Design a Daydream dsp goes on top and you can’t even tell most of it is missing.   The three die cut blocks are layered on top of each other, just using Stampin’ Seal with the top, Basic White one being stamped using Memento and the cute frog from the So Hoppy Together stamp set.  The sentiment, also stamped using Memento is from Best Day stamped onto a strip of Basic White (which I flagged on either end) and layered on

Another of my crafting delights

How many different types of crafting do you indulge in?  Along with paper crafting, I sew occasionally, knit, cross stitch, bead, have done some plastic canvas.  I'm sure I am leaving something out but that's enough for now.   A few years ago I used to do a lot of counted cross stitch, everyone was getting projects of mine for Christmas, birthdays, etc.  Last year, just after Christmas I decided I wanted to get back into stitching and make something for my sister for Christmas.  I purchased a kit online and started my endeavor.  While I didn't quite get it finished in time for December 25th (ugh!), I did recently complete it and delivered it.    Thank heavens it wasn't huge or I would still be working on it, but I am so very happy with how it turned out.  It certainly was a labour of love and she did love it!  Since our father passed away four years ago, we have turned to gifting each other cardinals in any shape or form and we now have live cardinals coming to our bir

Stampin' Up! Zoo Crew Birthday Card

Image
I try to do a live every Tuesday evening, to showcase a card or project using a sketch as my motivation.  Today, I thought I would try something a bit different and am very pleased with the outcome.  Another Stampin' Up! demo has a great project that she gives out clues on one day and then completes her clues (which ultimately end up being a card) via you tube the next day.  I borrowed from her recent post and followed her clues as my live to complete this very cool layout. The card base is Basic Black which I adhered a layer of Petal Pink cardstock to after it had been embossed using the Merry Melody embossing folder.  Next, I cut three squares of Basic Black cardstock and two squares from Zoo Crew dsp and layered them using Stampin' Seal.  A final square of Basic White was stamped using Memento and the Timeless Arrangement stamp set and then layered onto the last of the Basic Black squares.  The fun Armadillo from the Zoo Crew dsp was then fussy cut and adhered to the Basic W

Stampin' Up! Poetic Expressions Swing Out Card

Image
Hey all, Today's card is a simple version of the Swing Out card.  I have never made one of these before and wanted to start slow.  My club gals thoroughly enjoyed the idea and all did a fantastic job with it.  There is a little trick to getting the die cut just right, but once you are past that, it's free sailing! I did watch another demo do hers, so will post her video here for all to see. My cardbase was Moody Mauve that I did layer the inside with a piece of the Poetic Expressions dsp.  I think this is my favourite so far from the new mini offerings.  Using the Something Fancy dies, I die cut half of the image (which creates the swing out), then die cut two Basic White from the next size down of the same die set.  These are then stamped and placed on the swing out piece and behind that on the dsp piece.  It sounds confusing but it certainly isn't.  When I stamped, I did the Let's Eat Cake in Memento, and added a leaf image in Old Olive.  For the inside sentiment, I

Stampin' Up! Cradled in Love Baby Card

Image
Oh My Goodness!  Talk about a sweet little card.  When I first saw this stamp set in the Sale a Bration, I knew I had to have it.  Not that I make a lot of baby cards, but I need this in my stash. I did look at a few you tube videos from other demos and used some of their ideas and then used my own colours and finishing touches. The Soft Sea Foam layer is stamped all over using the Soft Sea Foam ink and the stamp from the Cradled in Love (elephant).  I wasn't fussy with the center because that was going to be covered over anyways.  Next, I cut from Basic White using the 2nd largest die from Color & Contour die set. Then I stamped using Pecan Pie, first the cradle, then the mat, arm for the mobile and mobile.  I used Pecan Pie for the crib, arm and mobile ring, Crumb Cake for the mat, So Saffron for the blanket and mobile toys, grey for the whale and elephant (which I stamped onto a scrap of Basic White and fussy cut x2).  Then, using the Soft Sea Foam ink pad and a blending br

Stampin' Up! Zoo Crew Birthday

Image
Oh boy!  This card was so much fun to make!  I made it during a facebook live with Andrea and all kinds of things went wrong for me but the card is completed and is such a fun card! The sketch was super cool, not sure I followed it totally but oh well.  It was the jumping off point that I needed to get me moving. I started by fussy cutting the cute racoon holding balloons from the Zoo Crew DSP which I then coloured the racoon with Bronze and Ivory.  This is popped up onto the piece of Bright and Beautiful DSP.  This was then adhered to a layer of Lemon Lime Twist.  The sentiment is from the Charming Sentiments which I cut apart and popped up onto the card front.  I added a few of the Adhesive-Backed Speckled Dots.  The cardbase is Basic White where I stamped using Memento a sentiment from Hello Ladybug.  Now is where the fun starts.  I stamped using Alphabest and Memento, the letters for Happy Birthday alternating on lemon lime twist cardstock and the Bright and Beautiful DSP and pun

Stampin' Up! Poetic Expressions Birthday Card

Good day! I always enjoy a good sketch and this one did not disappoint.  They certainly make my brief time at the craft table easier and more enjoyable.  I can't wait to duplicate this one in particular using many different dsp options (trust me, I have LOTS to try it with!) I adhered the large piece of dsp to the smaller panel of Basic White using Stampin' Seal, then wrapped a length of the textured ribbon around it before adhering it all to the Wild Wheat cardbase.  I stamped the sentiment using Memento ink from the Heartfelt Hexagon stamp set, then punched it using the Hexagon punch.  I also added a splash of colour with Flirty Flamingo.  This is popped up using the Stampin' Dimensionals.  A few of the In Color Dots were added for interest. Since I love a finished insert, I stamped a sentiment using Memento on the Basic White piece of cardstock, added a strip of dsp and adhered to the inside of the card.   At first I thought it might be too much of one colour but I think

Stampin' Up! Countryside Inn Sympathy Card

Hello! Stamping using a sketch is often the only inspiration I need.  Other times, I need a whole lot more.  Today's project came easily and I am so pleased with the results.  Andrea provided the sketch and we each created using our interpretation.  I can't stress enough how much fun it is to craft with a friend, even if it is virtually.  It's really good for the mind.   I had actually forgotten that I had a bit of the Countryside Inn dsp leftover so I created based on that.  I love all of the blue's that Stampin' Up! has to offer right now.  My Misty Moonlight cardbase was the perfect choice to layer a piece of Boho Blue cardstock onto.  Then I adhered the other three pieces, which are different designs of the dsp.  Using the Timeless Arrangement dies and a scrap of Basic White and Boho Blue, I die cut some foilage to layer with the sentiment.  Heartfelt Hexagon and Night of Navy ink finished off the sentiment which is popped up with Stampin' Dimensionals.  Th

Stampin’ Up! Zoo Crew Masculine Birthday Card

Welcome,  Todays project was not an easy task for sure.  Leading up to my Facebook live, I asked for help deciding stamp set as well as dsp.  The chosen ones were Trucking Along and Zoo Crew dsp.  I found a sketch online and I went to work.  Don’t get me wrong, I love a good challenge and I do actually like the card I made!  The largest piece of dsp is adhered to the cardfront using Stampin seal.  Then the smaller piece is adhered to the front of the cardfront.  The outline image of the truck is now stamped on Basic White using Memento.  Then Pecan Pie was stamped off once before filling in the rest of the truck.  Note the cute door sign stamped in Memento too!  The flowers came next, stamped again in Memento and coloured with Watercolor pencils  Pumpkin Pie, Early Espresso, Basic Black and Grey.  Using the Blender Pens, I quickly went over my coloured images just to take out any lines or blotchiness.  Such a cool technique.  This piece was then adhered to the small Basic Black panel

Hello all and Happy New Years!  It is so hard to believe that this is 2024 and that it's taken me 5 days to finally post something!  Gotta say, I didn't ring in the new year in a great way as I had the flu for 4 days.  Yesterday I felt almost human again and decided to resume my Thursday sketch lives with my sideline Andrea .  It is always so much more fun to craft with a buddy, even if it is virtually.  Here is the link if you want to watch how we made our cards!   https://www.facebook.com/prairieskyDIY/videos/6949769681779110/ Andrea provided the sketch, and without any discussions beforehand, we both ended up using the same bundle and with the same sentiment.  Totally was a surprise! The new January to April 2024 mini and sale a bration is live now.  If you don't have a demonstrator and live in Canada and would like a catalogue, send me a message and I will hook you up. A couple of the products I used for this project were from the new mini-the Poetic Expressions dsp an
