East Coast Stamping with Mary Louise

 Good day folks,  Another day and another card, this time a masculine project.  I don’t tend to make a lot of these cards, not because I struggle with them but because I don’t have a lot of need for them.  I was prompted to make a masculine because I wanted to participate in a creative challenge from a blog I follow: Inspire.Create.Challenge #117.  If you love challenges, you should play along. My inspiration for this card came in sketch form which I just altered to suit my needs.  Here is the list of materials I used and dimensions too.  Good day!  Todays post is from my Tuesday night live of #sketchintuesday that is aired on Facebook.  I am given a sketch from a fellow stamper and I create using it live.  Sometimes my mind goes rogue when I put paper and stamps to sketch idea but this time I followed pretty closely.  It’s great that the dimensions are included, takes the guess work out of it and saves time.   I used Artfully Composed dsp, Evening Evergreen cardbase and layer and a strip of Calypso Coral.  Basic White insert and small piece for the focal image.  Peaceful Moments for the sentiment stamped in Memento, Amazing Silhouettes (butterfly) stamped in Calypso Coral on the Basic White.  The butterfly layer is popped up using dimensionals as is the sentiment.  I finished the card off with some Pearl Basic Jewels.   Super cute and totally easy to assemble using any colour and paper combinations.  Let’s take a look here:  As always, thank you for stopp...

Good evening,  Wow, what a scorcher of a day today!  We hit the 30 degree mark this afternoon and it's still warm.  If this is any indication of what summer will be like, I am in big trouble. I don't know about you, but I have a lot of scraps of pretty designer series paper leftover from my cards.  Too much that I can't in good conscience throw them out but not enough for an entire card front. This inspired me to create a project using some of those scraps without it looking trashy.   My cardbase is Magenta Madness, which has retired but the coordinating dsp hasn't yet.  I added a layer of Basic Black for contrast and then topped it with the Blushing Bride.  The butterfly image is from Amazing Silhouettes, stamped in Melon Mambo ink and the sentiment is from Lovely You which is stamped in the same colour.  Then I cut strips (3/4" wide and various lengths to fit) of the Abstract Beauty dsp and adhered them to the card front.  To fini...

 Hey everyone, Welcome to East Coast Stamping with Mary Louise, all the way from Aylesford, Nova Scotia, Canada. I am an independent Stampin' Up! demonstrator and I love to play with paper. Today's project is all about using your dsp without having fancy dies or punches.  With each new catalogue, Stampin' Up! has been offering us beautiful designer series paper with pretty designs that coordinate so nicely with other colours and products they sell.  Some of that dsp has images that are easy to cut out or fussy cut with scissors or have dies or a punch that is sold in a suite.  Hey Sports Fans is one of those packs and is my focus for todays card.  I have used Night of Navy cardstock for the A2 cardbase.  Basic White cardstock for the insert (don't forget to add some fun images to the inside too) and a scrap of Poppy Parade for the sentiment.  Everything else is from the Hey Sports Fans dsp pack and I fussy cut it all out.  The stamp set I used for...

 Hey everyone, It's a beautiful day in Aylesford, Nova Scotia, Canada.  The sun is shining, there's a light breeze and it's just the perfect temperature.   Today is Thursday and I couldn't wait to get to my craft room today to create using some awesome items from my crafting vault.  You know, those items that are no longer current so shouldn't be used for classes, etc- but are still so much fun to use.   I used a sketch today for my inspiration, changed up the size of the layers to accommodate my chosen stamp image.  It's a simple layered card with a little colouring, nothing too difficult.  Oh boy! Here we are on another beautiful Sunday with the sun shining after a little rain and the birds are singing.  There is a light breeze blowing, so hoping it is enough so not to get too uncomfortably warm.  My sketch this week, from Making Cards @1 Ink Hill had lots of elements to it and I found the perfect stamp set to compliment that.  In the paper crafting world, sketches are a suggestion from which to base your card creation.  It is not necessarily expected to be case’d, although it can be, but also a jumping off place to begin your project.   Todays card was made using the Nothing's Better Than, a stamp set that Connie Stewart helped to design for her Million Dollar Sales milestone.   This is my first time using it, so many fun pieces to it.   Cardbase:  Night of navy-5 1/2 x 8 1/2 Basic White-4 x 5 1/4, scraps for stamping and sentiment Soft Suede-scrap for cookie Dsp: Abstract Beauty-4x5 1/4, 4 x3/4 for insert, coordinating strip...

 My #tbt post for this week uses projects I have made for a monthly card swap I participate in.  Each month we have a different theme and it amazes me how each month the cards are so diverse.  We all have different styles and interpretations, always fun to check my mailbox each month.  So this theme was a simple one or at least I thought it was going to be until I had to decide….flowers.  Lots of opportunities for products and techniques.  From dsp, stamp, colouring…the list keeps going.  Let’s see what I did:  I had been wanting to do this fold for awhile now, still not sure it’s where I wanted it to be but I am happy with it.  The stamps and dsp are all retired but the cardstock is still current.   Some of the bases are Mossy Meadow, some others are Pear Pizzazz.  The dsp is from Heartwarming Hugs and Trimming The Town paper packs.  There are quite a few stamp sets used, a little from here and a little from another.  Rea...
