Sketchin with Nothing’s Better Than from Stampin Up
Oh boy! Here we are on another beautiful Sunday with the sun shining after a little rain and the birds are singing. There is a light breeze blowing, so hoping it is enough so not to get too uncomfortably warm.
My sketch this week, from Making Cards @1 Ink Hill had lots of elements to it and I found the perfect stamp set to compliment that. In the paper crafting world, sketches are a suggestion from which to base your card creation. It is not necessarily expected to be case’d, although it can be, but also a jumping off place to begin your project.
Todays card was made using the Nothing's Better Than, a stamp set that Connie Stewart helped to design for her Million Dollar Sales milestone. This is my first time using it, so many fun pieces to it.
Cardbase:
Night of navy-5 1/2 x 8 1/2
Basic White-4 x 5 1/4, scraps for stamping and sentiment
Soft Suede-scrap for cookie
Dsp:
Abstract Beauty-4x5 1/4, 4 x3/4 for insert, coordinating strip 1 1/2 x 5 1/4
Ink:
Night of Navy, Just Jade, Soft Suede, Memento
Blends:
So Saffron light, Old Olive light, Pumpkin Pie light, Bermuda Bay dark, Real Red light.
Embellishments:
Rhinestone Basic Jewels
Here’s how I did it:
Simple layering with the dsp on the front of the card. Stamp on basic white using memento using the cocktail glass stamp and then colour in layers the So Saffron, Pumpkin Pie and Real Red blends starting darkest at bottom to lightest at top. The lime is using Old Olive and Umbrella is Bermuda Bay. Fussy cut out and adhere to card front. The tea cup is stamped using Just Jade onto Basic White cardstock and fussy cut, then adhered to cardfront. The cookie is stamped first onto Soft Suede cardstock using Soft Suede ink, then fussy cut making it look like a circle. A second cookie was stamped using Soft Suede onto Basic White and fussy cut along the actual lines. When you adhere them together with the white on top of the Soft Suede layer, you will be able to see the crumbs from the bottom layer. This is popped up using dimensionals. The sentiment was stamped with Night of Navy onto Basic White cardstock, and popped up with dimensionals. Then add the Rhinestone Basic Jewels and the front is finished. Since I like to finish the inside, I stamped each of the three elements on the inside and added a strip of the dsp along the bottom.
