HSSSC371 Sailing Home
Another blistering hot, muggy day in the Annapolis Valley with another heat warning in place. I am not a lover of this heat, bring on crisp, cool fall days!
My project today is another sketch challenge for hand stamped sentiments sketch challenge #371. When I first looked at the sketch, all I could see was moon or sunset and not the flower image shown here. I pulled out my Sailing Home and Very Versailles sets and knew exactly where I wanted to go with it. One of my coworkers lost her dad yesterday so I made this into a sympathy card so I could give it to her. I enjoy sketch cards, it takes the guesswork out of layouts and it doesn’t have to be exactly as the image shown.
Supply List:
Gray Granite card base
Basic White cardstock for insert
Bloom where you grow dsp
Very Versailles, Sailing Home and Many Messages stamp sets
Gray Granite, Cajun Craze and Calypso Coral ink pads
Blending Brushes
Messages Dies
Layering Circle Dies
Paper Trimmer
Stampin Seal
Stampin Cut & Emboss Machine
Scrap of paper for masking
Step by step instructions:
Cut the circle in your scrap paper using circle die. Place the circle on the piece of dsp where you want your sunset to be. Using Gray Granite, ink up and stamp off onto a scrap of paper the verses from Very Versailles and then stamp over top of the die cut circle onto the dsp. Now remove the circle, you should have a portion of the verse missing. Now place the paper you cut the circle from over the same spot on the dsp. You will now sponge colour into that circle and the remainder of the scrap paper will keep the rest of your project safe from ink. I started with Cajun Craze, applying a little colour at a time, then switched to Calypso Coral to give it a bit pinker tone. I like to finish the inside of my card so I repeated the sponging on the inside using that same scrap of paper. Once I was finished sponging, I used full strength of Gray Granite and inked up the lighthouse placing stamp slightly over the sponged area. Repeat for the inside without adding ink. It will give it a bit of a washed out or distant look for inside. I added some birds to both images as well. For the sentiment, I inked up the entire stamp set and ran through embossing machine and keep them all for future use. I love having sentiments ready whenever I need them. Now it’s just a matter of layering the sentiment to the dsp and adding dsp to front and insert to the inside. I used Stampin Seal for all of my adhering.
I hope you enjoyed this card as much as I did.
