Stampin' Up! Fall Sunflower Card using Abundant Beauty Decorative Masks
Hello everyone, hope you are enjoying your last few days before fall officially sets in. A lot of folks believe that after labour day and the children return to school, that's the unofficial fall season. Either way, Fall is by far, my favourite time of year. The colours are beautiful, the temperatures finally start to cool but are still pleasant, Halloween (my favourite holiday) is just around the corner and everything is PUMPKIN SPICE!
lol, I figured that would get your attention. But really? I make the best Pumpkin Spice Whoopie Pies!
I only really started making and sending fall cards these last couple of years as more and more people are starting to really get involved with fall decorating.
So todays project is made using the Abundant Beauty Decorative Masks from the Mini Catalogue. These are so easy to use and the Sunflowers are absolutely gorgeous.
I started with a Pecan Pie card base (have to say, really enjoying the Pecan Pie!), then I added a layer of Stargazing DSP. Before adhering the dsp, I did punch out the sentiment piece using my Double Oval Punch. Why not? The Sunflowers were coloured on a piece of Basic White, then adhered to a panel of Pecan Pie-again I punched using my Double Oval Punch before adhering. I coloured a piece of Basic White Bakers Twine using Pumpkin Pie, let it dry and wrapped it around the top two layers and then adhered all together. My sentiment, used from a retired set "Banner Year" is stamped using Memento onto the punched Stargazing dsp and adhered to the Pecan Pie piece. Finally, it is popped up using Stampin' Dimensionals and then a few of the Adhesive Backed Speckled Dots added for some fun. Now since I do enjoy a finished insert, you can see where I added some images there as well.
Here is how I did the images for both pieces:
Using the Sunflower mask, I coloured using my Blending Brushes and the Pumpkin Pie ink.
Then, using the leaf mask, I used Garden Green with the Blending Brush
Third is the "open" flower center, line it up with the sunflowers and add Crumb Cake with Blending Brushes.
Finally, the "detailed" flower center, again lining it up with previous images and use the Pecan Pie. It really is very simple. I did use some washi tape to secure my image to a piece of scrap paper and also the mask too, just in case I was too vigorous with my blending.
Just because this was so much fun to do, I also blended images onto the envelope. It really only took a couple of extra minutes and it looks so pretty.
