Stampin' Up! Paper Butterfly Accents Sympathy Card


Good day folks!  Another cold, sunny January day here in Nova Scotia.  Here is another project that I provided for my club gals.  It's actually one I found on Pinterest and case'd it using items I had on hand.  I had bought the butterfly accents last fall and finally got around to using them.

I like this card because there is very little stamping, a bit of colour added using Blending Brushes and then adhere all of the pieces.  Let's get started!

Colouring was the first part of this card.  First I added some colour to the sentiment for the cardfront as well as the insert using the Berry Burst ink and Blending Brushes.  I didn't want a lot of colour, just enough to pop the Memento sentiments....which I added next using sentiments from the Something Fancy stamp set.  The sentiment for the front can now be cut using the die from the Something Fancy bundle.  Next, I added some Berry Burst to the butterflies, again using the Blending Brushes.(larger butterfly for the front, smaller for the insert)  Last piece before starting to assemble is to emboss the last piece of Basic White using the Zinnia's 3D embossing folder.  Now we can assemble!

Add the smaller of the two butterflies to the insert next to the sentiment using tombow liquid glue.  Next, add the strip of dsp to the bottom of your insert.  This piece can now be adhered to the inside of the cardbase-just be mindful that the glue from the butterfly is dry before closing the card.

For the cardfront:  adhere the white embossed layer to the cardfront.  Next, add the two pieces of dsp and adhere using tombow or stampin' seal or tear'n tape.  I angled mine just a bit and placed the more muted design in the background.  Adhere the sentiment next, using adhesive of choice and finish off with the larger butterfly.  I didn't pop anything up, but you could if you wanted.  Adding a bit of Wink of Stella to the butterfly certainly made it pop and I didn't bother to add any further embellishments.  






 Measurements and materials:

  • Basic Black cardstock 8-1/2″ x 5-1/2″  score at 4-1/4″
  • Basic White cardstock (inside the card and embossed): (2) 5-1/4″ x 4″ 
  • Basic White cardstock (sentiment): approx. 2-3/4″ x 1-1/2″die cut from Something Fancy dies 
  • Beauty Abounds DSP 4 x 2 3/4-2 different designs
  • Zinnia 3D embossing folder (retired)
  • Paper Butterfly Accents
  • Berry Burst and Memento inks
  • Blending brush
  • Cut and emboss machine
  • Something Fancy and Peaceful Moments Stamps (retired)
  • Tomboy Mono glue 
  • Wink of Stella

Such a cool way to use up smaller pieces of dsp, change out the sentiment for any occasion.  I think I see a lot of this layout in my future as I continue to work through my ever growing stash of dsp!  Did I just plant a seed????

Stampin' Up! Splendid Autumn Sympathy Card

Today's card was inspired by a sketch seen on facebook from an American Demonstrator.  I was intrigued by the cool way to use some of our beautiful designer series paper and the best part is, you don't need a huge piece! I am attending a Stampin' Up! event this weekend and we were asked to bring a few projects to share and this is one of my projects. Fall isn't officially here yet, but once school starts up and the leaves start to fall off the trees, it's pretty close.  The Splendid Autumn designer series paper is gorgeous, the beautiful rich colours are simply stunning.   The cardbase and matte layer are Wild Wheat and the cardstock that the dsp is mounted on is Crushed Curry.  Simply cut the pieces and adhere together and then adhere to the card front.  I stamped using Memento onto a strip of Basic White cardstock which was then mounted on to another piece of Crushed Curry.  This was then popped up using Stampin' Dimensionals after the length of 2023...

Colouring Beautifully Penned DSP

  Today, I felt like colouring so I found some dsp to colour along with my Stampin Blends and here it is.  The Beautifully Penned dsp was the perfect choice to satisfy my colouring urge.  Do you find colouring is a stress reliever?  Here are the measurements and step by step instructions.  I created this live on facebook today, take a peek over on my page. Stampin' Up! Nests of Winter Christmas Card

Good day folks!  I am here with another card created for my recent Stampin' Up! gathering this past weekend.  We had a day long activity where we focused on building up our Stampin' Up! business, watched several Atlantic Demos create some beautiful projects and then participated in a show box swap.  This was my shoe box swap offering. I have used this fancy fold layout several times and thought it was the perfect opportunity to showcase some of the beautiful Nests of Winter dsp in the latest mini catalogue! My cardbase is Grey Granite which was cut and scored, the die cut square behind the image and the strip to hold the card together are all Gray Granite too.  The dsp is from Nests of Winter and they are adhered to the front and the inside of the cardbase.  There is a small piece of Basic White for the insert and fits beside the piece of dsp.  The strip of Gray Granite,  is scored is secured next.  Starting at the far left edge of the card front,...
