All Squared Away Mystery Piece Challenge
I always enjoy a good mystery, whether it's a book, movie or card challenge. Do you???? I participate in a monthly mystery piece swap where we sign up for a mystery envelope from the "hostess" and we need to create a card using whatever is in the envelope. Sometimes, we take turns being the hostess which makes it even more interesting as we all have different ideas, supplies, etc. So this envelope had 5 die cut pieces in it-the green die cut plus 4 small flowers from the All Squared Away die set. Here is my take on this challenge. If you are a card maker and would like to participate in this challenge, let me know and I can certainly get you in touch with the group.
Supply List:
Cardstock:
Basic Black-cut at 5 ½”x 8 ½” scored at 5 1/2”
Pool
Party-cut at 4”x5 ¼”; scrap for flowers
Basic
White-4”x5 ¼”
Three
other colours-scraps for flowers
Pattern
Party dsp-3 ½” square
Ink:
Memento
Stamp
Sets: Sweet Ice Cream
All Squared Away Dies
Adhesive,
dimensionals; glue dots
Paper
Trimmer
Stampin' Cut & Emboss Machine
Step- By- Step Instructions:
Cut
the 3 ½” square of dsp in two from corner to corner, giving you two triangles.
Next,
using the dies, cut out the squared flower image along with a total of 4
flowers, having one in pool party to match the matte layer.
Stamping:
In order to achieve the look of stamping between the two pieces of dsp, not having
the letters go past the dsp and because I try not to stamp last I had to do
some fancy masking. I taped down my
pieces of dsp temporarily and then added some scrap pieces down the sides
too. I used dollarstore washi tape so it
was easy to peel back off. Then I inked
up my sentiment and stamped first right in the center of the negative space. I stamped again at the beginning and at the
end of the “thank you” to make it look like a rolling stamp. You will see in my card sample that parts of
the words are missing, that was my intent.
Now you can remove the temporary pieces.
I
also like to finish the inside of my cards so I then stamped a verse for the
inside also using memento ink.
Step- By- Step Instructions:
Now let’s assemble our
card:
Adhere the dsp onto the Pool
Party layer and then adhere to the cardbase.
I cut narrow lengths of dimensionals (the outside where there aren’t any
markings) and placed around the four edges of the die cut and then placed onto
the center of my card. I glued down 3 of
the 4 flowers and finally, placed the 4th with a glue dot onto the
stem. The die cut gives you an idea of
where to place the flowers. I added the
Matte Black dots to just three of the flowers, leaving the “popped” up one
without.
Place your Basic White piece on the inside of the card. You could also add a strip of dsp to the bottom to help finish it off.
