Hand Stamped Sentiments Color Challenge #372 Flowers of Friendship

Today's #sketchintuesday project was fueled by this random sketch search from Pinterest as well as a colour challenge.  The colours were Merry Merlot, Petal Pink and Cinnamon Cider.  I substituted the Petal Pink in for Blushing Bride as I didn't have that colour...but it's in my shopping cart currently.  This isn't my normal type of card but I am happy with the results.  I decided to forgo dsp this time which I tend to lean on for my creations.  Instead, I used one of the masks from the new pack in the holiday mini-Adorning Design.
The colour challenge is from Hand Stamped Sentiments, where they offer a new challenge biweekly.  Check out their blog here: HSSCC372

Supply List:

Cardstock: Basic White-cut at 5 ½”x 8 ½” scored at 4 ¼”; scrap for sentiment

Cinnamon Cider-cut at 3 ¼”x4 ½”

Just Jade; Merry Merlot-scraps for flowers and leaves

Ink: Memento, Merry Merlot, Blushing Bride

Stamp Sets: Many Messages and dies, Flowers of Friendship bundle

Stitched So Sweetly Dies

Adorning Design Mask

Fine Art Ribbon

Gold Metallic Pearls

Blending Brushes

Adhesive,  dimensionals

Paper Trimmer

Stampin Cut & Emboss Machine

Step- By- Step Instructions:

I used the largest scallop rectangle die from the Stitched so Sweetly dies for the Cinnamon Cider layer.

Stamping: Stamp the large flower onto the Cinnamon Cider die cut using Memento Ink, then stamp just the flowers onto the Merry Merlot scraps.  Stamp 4 leaves, 2 of each size onto Just Jade scraps.

I also like to finish the inside of my cards so I then stamped a verse and a flower for the inside also using memento ink.

Stamp the sentiment onto Basic White cardstock. (I stamp and die cut the entire set and keep extras inside my stamp case and use when needed)

Choose your mask you wish to use, and tack it down using washi tape so it doesn’t slip when you are blending.  I started using the Blushing Bride ink and blended in no particular pattern but covered most of the card front.  Then use Merry Merlot and add to where you want the colour to appear. Be mindful that you can always add colour when blending but you can't take it away.  I usually start "swirling" my blending brush off the project on scrap paper before I touch it to my project just to take the heavy colour off.   When you have achieved the look you want, carefully remove the washi tape.

Punch out the leaves using the Flowers & Leaves punch and then fussy cut the Merry Merlot flowers.

Now let’s assemble our card:

Start by placing your fussy cut flowers and punched leaves onto the flower stamped on the Cinnamon Cider layer and adhere.  Add dimensionals to the back of this layer.  Using a piece of the Fine Art ribbon approx. 6”, criss cross on the front of the card, under the Cinnamon Cider layer-I ran a short line of adhesive to the center to adhere the ribbon to.  Then place the Cinnamon Cider layer onto the cardfront.  Add your sentiment to the front and to finish the flowers off, I added some of the Gold Metallic Pearls.
